Microcredit in El Salvador

¿Cómo?

I´m going to spend the next twelve weeks working for a microfinance institution called PADECOMSMCrédito in Northern El Salvador, as a representative of Kiva.org, an international funding organization. Kiva works to alleviate poverty through lending, and allows individuals to lend money to projects and people in developing countries.

On August 1st, 2010, I got on a plane from Los Angeles to San Salvador International Airport. As I walked out of the plane and into green landscape of jungles, rivers, and volcanoes, I carried four collared shirts, a backpack, and a floppy fishing hat. I´m writing a blog for the first time to share some of my stories, hopefully some of which will expose you and connect you to the work being done in this tiny, complicated, and ever-optimistic country.
